该片根据中国民族英雄戚继光（赵文卓 饰）事迹改编，讲述了明朝抗倭英雄戚继光与戚家军一起抗击倭寇的英雄史诗故事。。金仁河（李秉宪 饰）从小就过着漂泊不定朝不保夕的动荡生活，他所结识的朋友，不是社会地位底下的小混混就是为人所不齿的卖身女，然而，金仁河本性善良又讲义气，深得朋友们的喜爱和信赖。一场意外中，金仁河锒铛入狱，在狱中，他不改本性，又结交了一群生死相依的朋友们。 出狱后，想要金盆洗手的金仁河却被迫重新坐上的赌桌，尽管赢得了赌局，却也弄得身败名裂，不得不隐姓埋名，东躲西藏。之后，金仁河被黑手党老大看重，加入了黑道，过了一段腥风血雨的日子。离开了黑道，金仁河重新回到了赌坛，这一次，他潜心深造，闭关修炼，终于成为了一代赌圣，而他和青梅竹马秀娟（宋慧乔 饰）之间的恋情，亦在风雨飘摇之中修成了正果。。The ship has been stuck in the doldrums for some time, but as soon as they break free into more promising water, the wind blows up suddenly, damaging the foremast and sending the ship right back into the still water.
